Induction is held in the fall semester, usually November. The Golden Chain Honor Society seeks to recognize UNCG students for outstanding achievement and service to the University. Founded in 1948, The Golden Chain is unique to the UNCG campus. The seven links of the Golden Chain symbolize the qualities that have always been prerequisite for election to membership: Leadership, Scholarship, Service, Tolerance, Judgement, Magnanimity and Character.
Candidates may be nominated by University students, faculty, staff, Golden Chain alumni, and honorary members. Candidates must be juniors or seniors at UNCG with an overall grade point average of at least 3.25. The Golden Chain Scholarship is awarded annually and is supported by Society projects and donations from Golden Chain alumni and honorary members.
