What drew you UNCG?
When I was in high school I loved the medical profession and had been a candy striper at our local hospital. I came to UNCG because of the university's reputation for having a nationally recognized nursing program. It was also affordable and I was the recipient of scholarships and grants.
What did being a student leader at UNCG mean to you?
From the day I arrived on campus I felt like my input would be respected. I served as an Ambassador and as a EUC Fellow we were also encouraged to participate in campus life. I lived in the Foust Residential College where the professors sparked our enthusiasm for visionary thinking.

As I continued my college studies I decided to change my major to English because I wanted to become a newspaper editor. I began to take an active interest in politics. UNCG hosted various candidates and political organizations and this also increased my interest. I joined Student Government Association and was a charter member of Alpha Phi Omega.

I was privileged to be appointed to committees involving sports, residential life, and much more. All of these activities helped shape my current career interests, my extracurricular activities, religion, community service and much more. By allowing me to grow and to boldly have ideas and allow me to implement them has enabled me to be successful in my chosen profession.

UNCG nurtured me. There was a sense of community, friendship, security and support.
What is your favorite UNCG memory?
Sledding down the hill at the Political Science Building. Playing pranks on other dorms that involved warnings from campus police - we probably should not talk about that. HAHA. A seance at one of the downtown cemeteries. There are so many good ones.
What advice would you give current UNCG students or specifically, student leaders?
Take advantage of the people and resources at the UNCG. There is something for everyone. You are ultimately responsible for your success! Success should be measured by what you accomplish in life - not how much you can earn.
What have you been doing since graduating?
I am responsible for the public relations, marketing and media relations for the City of Concord, NC. I have been in this position for almost 5 years. I have also worked in this field for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg and Mooresville School Systems.

I was the first female editor of the Mooresville Tribune.

During most of my career I have been in the position of being the first or the initiator of numerous positions, projects and initiatives. For instance I am the first person in this position for Concord - which is the 14th largest city in the state and hosts one of the largest sporting events in the country twice a year - the NASCAR races.

I have completed a masters in Public Administration from UNCC; and advanced certificates from UNC-CH and UNCC.
