Hospitality and Tourism Management Major (HTMT)

II General Education Marker Requirements

See details and courses. It is possible to meet all GE Marker Requirements while completing the GE Core requirements or courses required by the major/concentration.

Students may select courses for:

Global/Global Non-Western Perspectives (GL/GN)
four (4) courses carrying GL/GN markers, at least one of which must carry the GN marker; one GL must be HTM 251.

One Speaking Intensive (SI) Course
In addition to this SI Marker requirement, students must also complete a second SI course within the major. All programs have identified at least one course among their major requirements that is taught as Speaking Intensive.

One Writing Intensive (WI) Course
In addition to this WI Marker requirement, students must also complete a second WI course within the major. All programs have identified at least one course among their major requirements that is taught as Writing Intensive.

 

III Major and Related Area Requirements (minimum 82 s.h. for Hotel and Restaurant Management; minimum 84 s.h. for Travel and Tourism)

All concentrations

  1. HTM 151, 251, 351, 352, 354 or any ENT 3 s.h. course, 417, 423, 450, 456
  2. CST 105*; ECO 201*; MGT 309*; MAT 115*; STA 108*
  3. Students are required to fulfill the business minor as part of their degree program.

Hotel and Restaurant Management Concentration

  1. HTM 171 or 261, 174, 371, 372, 373 or 463, 374
  2. Related areas: ACC 201; ISM 110; MGT 309, 312, 330; MKT 320

Travel and Tourism Management Concentration

  1. HTM 261, 320 (or GEO/RPM 320), 463
  2. Related areas: ACC 201; ISM 110; MGT 309; MKT 320; RPM 213, 315, 324. Select two of the following: MGT 312, 330; MKT 327, 421, 424

Note: The field experience courses RPM 315 and HTM 417 are typically offered only in the summer sessions and should not be taken during the same summer; students should plan accordingly.

*CST 105 satisfies GRD; ECO 201 satisfies GSB; MAT 115 or STA 108 satisfies GMT; MGT 309 satisfies WI, SI in major.

IV Electives
