Students electing the 4+1 Medical Technology program earn a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science with a major in either Biology, Chemistry, or Biochemistry from UNCG (see Biology and Chemistry & Biochemistry Departments). During their final year at UNCG they apply for admission to a School of Medical Technology (Clinical Laboratory Science) approved by the National Accrediting Agency for the Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) for an additional year of study.

Admission into clinical programs is competitive, and is based on the student's GPA and completion of required science courses (or their approved substitutions). These required courses may also be used to meet the major departmental requirements in Biology, Chemistry, or Biochemistry.

See Biology, Chemistry, or Biochemistry Plus Year of Clinical Study for requirements.
