Requirements for Internships

The Fitness Leadership and Aquatics Leadership Internships (KIN 494 and 595) have specific requirements. Students should begin investigating these requirements at the beginning of the junior year by obtaining written, detailed instructions from the Kinesiology Department, 237 HHP Building.

Aquatics Leadership Internship:

At the time of application for placement in KIN 494, students must present evidence of the following:

1. Health and immunization clearances:
   1. A tuberculin Mantoux skin test (or chest X-ray if skin test is positive) valid through the internship
   2. A tetanus toxoid immunization
   3. Evidence of Measles, Mumps, and Rubella immunization as required by the University
   4. Chicken Pox titer or Chicken Pox vaccination
   5. Completion of Hepatitis B immunization series (The inoculation series should begin at least one year before the semester of internship placement.)
      
      If immunization requirements change on short notice, students will be notified.
2. Students must purchase professional liability insurance to begin KIN 494. Students should obtain a written, detailed explanation of this requirement in the Kinesiology departmental office.
3. The student must have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.50 to enroll in KIN 494.
4. An application process must be completed prior to registration in KIN 494.

Fitness Leadership Internship:
