Adult Students in Action: Freda

FredaWinifreda Mandarano, known as “Freda,” who is ready to don her cap and gown for a December graduation, is not your average nursing school graduate. Not only does she have a close-to-perfect grade point average; she is also just a tad beyond the age of the average graduate. "I'm old enough to collect Medicare--leave it there," she answers with a smiling refusal to say more on the subject.

Get Set Saturday Online Registration

GSSOn January 17 OAS will host "Get Set Saturday," a program intended to provide adult students with information and resources that will help make their first semester at UNCG a successful one. Visit the Get Set Saturday Web page for complete information.

You can now register for Get Set Saturday online. The Web registration form is a quick and easy alternative to mailing in your registration.

Please Note: This program is separate from SOAR. SOAR is required for all new incoming students, Get Set Saturday is optional.

Needed: Children's Books Donated

Third WednesdaysThe Office for Adult Students is partnering with the Office of Leadership and Service Learning and the North Carolina Campus Compact to promote the MLK Day Read-on! For the first stage of this event, OAS and OLSL are collecting new and gently used books for infants through grade 3. Collection points can be found outside OLSL, the Rec Center, the Caf and the Curry Building. Your help is greatly appreciated!

Work Study Position Available

The Office for Adult Students is seeking a student for work-study employment for Spring semester! We are looking for motivated individuals who can relate to and assist adult students for 10 hours a week. To inquire, contact Joe Gullo.
