The Department of Philosophy's next Great Conversation will be this Thursday, Nov. 6th, at 5:00 PM in the Faculty Center with Galen Foresman. There will be a discussion, coffee and Minerva cake.
This edition of the Great Conversation will introduce the basics of deterrence style arguments and the problems they have. The problems with deterrence are numerous, but the simple intuition that punishment deters action remains compelling. This Great Conversation is sponsored by the Philosophy Dept and Phi Sigma Tau and offers an opportunity for students and faculty of all disciplines to join us in philosophical inquiry.
The next installment of Campus Activities' Commuter Deli will be on Tuesday, November 11th in EUC's Cone Ballroom. from 5:00pm - 8:00pm. Bring your Student ID, and look for a table of Adult Students!
Do you still need to get your flu shot this year? The Wellness center is sponsoring Wellness Wednesdays in the EUC Commons on October 29 and November 5 between 11:00 am - 2:00 pm. The fee will be $18 for Fee Paid Students and $21 for Non Fee Paid Students, Faculty, Staff and Family Members. Flu shots are also available in the Immunization Clinic in the Gove Student Health Center from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm Monday through Friday.
Registration for Spring semester 2009 is quickly approaching! In order to assist those adult students who have not been through registration before, we have made a presentation available with some tips, pointers, and important dates here. This presentation was originally made by Nancy Bucknall (from CASA) and has been adapted for adult students. For the Registrar's website on how to register for classes, please go here.
UNCG's Parking Services offers a carpool organization system on their website. If you're looking for someone in your area to ride to school with please check out this website.
Campus Connect is an online blackboard organization for the Office for Adult Students. Participants can chat with one another, post questions to peers and share experiences.
This year, we are introducing sub-groups for students with specific interests which currently include Veterans, Pet Owners, Parents, Video Gamers, and Distance Learners.
To join, log into Blackboard and search for "Campus Connect" under organizations, or simply contact Joe Gullo with your name and he will enroll you!
