My name is Anthony Bond.
I'm an Adult Student here at UNCG.
I'm a computer science major. I'm a senior.
I'm supposed to be graduating this December.
One of the things I have taken advantage as an Adult Student here is the Student Recreation Center and Outdoor Adventures in particular. A lot of people, especially Adults Students, don't really realize the opportunities that are available here at Outdoor Adventures.
Outdoor Adventures is a part of the Student Recreation facility. They plan outdoor adventures. They plan trips, such as kayaking, backpacking, caving, white-water rafting, things of that nature.
I've been on about three different trips this semester. Been backpacking in the Smoky Mountains. Been on an Introduction to Whitewater Kayaking. And tomorrow, I'm actually going on another Kayaking trip. I've also been on a day hike to Stone mountain. And in a couple of weeks I'm planning on going on another backpacking trip to the Appalachian Trail up in Northern Virginia.
There's a lot of benefits to taking advantage of Outdoor Adventures. It's a healthful thing. It's good to exercise and things of that nature.
Most people do not realize they are paying for these things whether they take advantage of them or not. It's part of the fees we pay with our tuition. The use of the Student Recreation Center is free. Outdoor Adventure costs a little extra to do on the trip. But man, it's a lot of fun. You get to socialize with the other students, and it's just a blast.
Some of the trips I've been on have been a lot of fun. Some of it has been a little exerting. But the benefits are wonderful.
I want to encourage Adult Students to take advantage of these facilities.
