Category: Best Slow-Cooker/Crock Pot Meal

Author:

Vanessa Maliski

Recipe Name:

Sausage and Salsa

Recipe Description:

Easy meal that can be started at home and carried to a family's or friend's house, or great for when you have company coming. The kids love it, especially my teenager and her friends.

Ingredients:

  • 2 packages of Neese sauage (you can substitute ground turkey)
  • 2 medium jars of salsa (I usually use organic, one hot & one mild)
  • 2 packages of cream cheese (you can substitute for lower fat cream cheese, I usually do)
  • Baked Tostidas
  • Bag of prepared lettuce
  • Grated low fat cheese
  • Freshly diced tomatoes

Directions:

In a skillet, brown sausage (or ground turkey) and drain. In crock pot, add cooked meat, salsa and cream cheese. Let simmer for a couple hours (no set time, just until it's blended well). You can eat this right out of the pot with some chips, or fancy it up a bit by tossing some salad on top of chips, add the freshly diced tomatoes and grated cheese.
