Category: Best Slow-Cooker/Crock Pot Meal

Author:

Allen Hamrick

Recipe Name:

Kielbasa and Sauerkraut

Recipe Description:

This is a VERY easy recipe that you can throw in the Crock Pot in the morning before work and it will be ready for dinner! Try to find authentic Polish sausage from a butcher and not the pre-cooked packed meat from the grocery store.

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb. Polish Kielbasa, cut into inch pieces
  • 1 16 oz. can sauerkraut
  • Spoonful of brown sugar

Directions:

Cut the 1 lb of Polish Kielbasa into 1 inch pieces. Pre-cook the Kielbasa for 30 minutes before putting it into the Crock Pot with the sauerkraut. Cook Kielbasa on medium-low with about an inch of water in the bottom of the pan. Kielbasa is cooked when it is no longer pink and more of a greyish-brown color. Once the Kielbasa is cooked, combine the Kielbasa with the sauerkraut in the Crock Pot. Sprinkle the top of the mixture with the brown sugar (about a tablespoon is all you need). Cook in the Crock Pot on low for at least 4 hours. Great with baked potatoes!
