Volunteer Opportunities for UNCG Students

Note: These opportunities are provided as a way for Adult Students to give back to their own community. To find opportunities for non-Adult Students in the Greensboro area, please visit this website.

The Office for Adult Students needs volunteers to be Greeters and Gofers, Sociable Hosts, Computer Coaches, Poster Placers, Web site Watchers, Office Assistants, Adult Student Advocates, and Project Coordinators.

One hour or fifty hours, all help is welcomed! We appreciate offers of help from outside UNCG but these volunteer opportunities are intended for UNCG students. Among the activities which will need volunteers are:

  • Get Set Saturday: Help check students in, assist with room setup, answer new student questions, act as assistant to presenters, and much more!
  • Fall Kick-off: Talk with new adult students about opportunities on campus.
  • "Lunch Live:" Socialize with new adult students over lunch during their first week at UNCG.
  • "First Tuesdays at Five:" Assist with recording names of attendees and distributing coupons.
  • "Third Wednesdays at Five:" Assist with recording names of attendees and distributing coupons.
  • "Minerva's Morning Coffee:" Assist with recording names of attendees and distributing coupons.
  • MLK Day Readathon: Help celebrate the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by reading to children.
  • Fall Fest: Assist with parade set-up, and/or help with children’s games at the OAS booth.
  • Service Saturday: This event will provide an opportunity for Adult Students to give back to the community. Past venues have been with Habitat for Humanity and Urban Ministries.
  • Campus Connect Moderator: Assist with moderating topical conversations with Adult Students in our pilot program of online communities. Topics will include veterans, parents, pet owners, and several others.

To sign up to volunteer, either complete our Online Volunteering Form or complete the volunteer application form below and either drop it by our office at 210 Elliott University Center or send it to us as an email attachment. Our email address is oas@uncg.edu.
