| UNCG HRS Grievance Policy |
|
| The University encourages employees to bring forward concerns about work related issues in a constructive and orderly way. Should direct communication between an employee and supervisor not produce a resolution, a formal grievance procedure is available to provide a fair review and stimulate recommendations for resolution to the grievance. This policy covers all “career state employees.” A career state employee is one who is in a permanent position and has been continuously employed for the immediate 24 preceding months. Employees who have satisfactorily completed their probationary period but have been employed less than 24 months may appeal through Step 3 of this policy. |

Informal resolution between supervisor and employee is always encouraged before formal resolution is undertaken.
Supervisors are encouraged to contact their HRS Generalist or the Employee Relations Officer in the event a grievance is filed. |
