Policy Reference: UNCG HRS Disciplinary Action Policy
Definition: A State Personnel Act (SPA) employee, regardless of occupation, position or profession may be warned, demoted, suspended or dismissed. The degree and type of action taken will be based on the judgment of the appointing supervisor in accordance with provisions of the Disciplinary Action Policy.
When to use: Disciplinary action may be taken by supervision or management as warranted by a specific situation. The type of disciplinary action (written warning, suspension, termination) is determined by the type of infraction.)

Reminders: A.An employee will have the right to grieve for any disciplinary action involving suspension without pay, demotion or termination.
B.Prior to implementing any of these actions, consult your HRS Program Manager or the HRS Employee Relations Officer.
