Financial aid is available on a limited basis during the Summer Session to admitted or continuing UNCG students enrolled in an eligible degree program. Aid is not awarded to visiting students. Students must have met the requirements of the Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy for Financial Aid Eligibility at the end of the Spring 2008 term in order to receive aid for the Summer Session. To be eligible for Summer aid, an undergraduate must be enrolled at least half time (minimum of 6 credit hours for undergraduates and 3 credit hours at 500 level or above for graduate students).
Students who wish to receive financial aid for Summer Session must file a "UNCG Summer Session Financial Aid Application." A completed 2007-2008 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA/RFAFSA) is also required in support of the request for assistance. Necessary forms can be obtained from the UNCG Financial Aid Office, (336) 334-5702, or on the web at http://fafsa.ed.gov. The deadline for applying for financial assistance for Summer Session is April 18, 2008. All required documents must be received and completed by this deadline.
Funds will be offered to eligible applicants in the order that the applications are received. Usually, financial assistance for summer consists of the student's remaining loan eligibility from the prior academic year. Grant and scholarship funds generally are not available for summer study unless the student was eligible for a 2007-2008 Pell Grant and was either enrolled part-time or for only one of the semesters during 2007-2008. Students who have questions regarding eligibility should contact the UNCG Financial Aid Office.
Students planning to attend both summer sessions must be registered for both sessions by the start of Summer Session I. Most awarded and accepted financial aid can be used for deferment of UNCG charges. Disbursement dates are dependent upon the number of sessions enrolled, number of credit hours enrolled each session, and the type of financial aid awarded. Under certain circumstances students may not have access to funds until the beginning of Summer Session II. For more information about disbursement dates, contact the Financial Aid Office.
As stated in the "Satisfactory Progress Policy for Financial Aid Eligibility," both graduate and undergraduate students must earn the minimum credit hours upon which their summer aid is based in order to remain eligible for 2008-2009 financial aid at UNCG.
Refunds and adjustments of tuition and fees are handled by the Cashier's Office. You must file for a refund in that office (151 Mossman Building).
To be considered for a refund, a student must officially withdraw within 30 days from the student's last date of attendance for the academic term in question. Please refer to the Undergraduate Bulletin or to the Graduate School Catalog for complete details concerning the University's Refund Policy.
For information concerning other special course charges and expenses, please refer to the Undergraduate Bulletin or to the Graduate School Catalog.
If you wish to apply for In-State Tuition Status, you must file an application in the Provost's Office (201 Mossman Building, 336/334-5494). Processing of such applications may require 6-8 weeks. Tuition status cannot be changed at the time of registration. Please refer to the Undergraduate Bulletin or the Graduate School Catalog for details concerning North Carolina residency requirements for tuition purposes.
