Summer Session Drop/Add and Audit

Drop/Add (Schedule Adjustment) for all Students

UNCGenie will be open to all summer students beginning April 22nd. Drop/Add processing continues throughout the summer semester in the Registrar’s Office, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, Monday – Friday

Drop/Add Policies

The following Drop/Add policies are in effect for all students:

  • See Summer Session Calendar regarding last day to add or drop a course. Different sessions have different deadline dates for dropping and adding.
  • To add any class which has closed or is restricted, you must obtain the instructor’s written signature on a drop/add form, and have that processed in the University Registrar’s Office.
  • Be sure to drop any course that you decide not to take. If you do not officially drop the course, you will receive an “F” for it on your academic record.

Academic Penalty for Late Drops

Students may drop courses without grade penalty through the mid-point of the course (see Summer Session Calendar for dates). Drops after the deadline, except for appropriate cause determined by medical, psychological, or administrative circumstances, shall be counted WF and computed in the grade point average.

Auditing Courses (for Currently Enrolled Students)

Auditing a course is the privilege of being present in the classroom when space is available. No credit is involved, no examinations are required, and no grades are reported for audited courses. Attendance, class preparation and participation are at the discretion of the department head and/or instructor. Admission to a class on an audit basis is determined following the close of regular registration for any given semester, and permission to register for a class on an audit basis must be granted in writing by the instructor. UNCG students who wish to audit a course should be aware of the following:

  • A student may not register to audit a course prior to the first day of classes for the semester.
  • A student must officially register for an audited class in the University Registrar’s Office (180 Mossman Building). Audits cannot be processed on UNCGenie.
  • Written permission from the instructor, and for undergraduates, from the student’s advisor, is required in order to audit a course; such written permission must be presented at the University Registrar’s Office when registering for the course.
  • Deadline date for auditing a course or changing from credit to audit is the same as the last day to add.
  • Full-time UNCG students may audit one course per semester without additional charges.
  • Part-time UNCG students may audit no more than two courses per semester and are charged a $15 fee for each audited course.

Auditing (Registered Auditor, Visiting Auditor or Continual Learning Visitor

Registered Auditor: Persons who are not currently enrolled at UNCG but who desire a record of enrollment as an auditor, should follow regular admission, registration, and fee payment.
