The human experience
can be confusing, comforting, dangerous, boring, exciting or
all of the above. In this class, we will be exploring three of
the most common—and meaningful—aspects of what it
means to be human: innocence and experience, conformity and rebellion,
and love and hate. As you read the paired stories, we will talk
about why characters behave as they do, how they are influenced
by their background and the world around them, what they learn
from their journeys, and even what their stories have to say
to us today. As we proceed, be prepared to discuss your ideas
with your online classmates (through Discussion Forum), write
about the stories in two short papers, and even share some of
your own human experience. There’ll even be a chance for
games…
