equipment requirements

The computer and network resources required for the UNCG iSchool are simple and flexible. The following items are recommended:

  • High-speed Internet connectivity, typically provided over DSL, cable or T3 lines.
  • Windows or Mac-based computers with 600 MHz or more of operating speed and 190 MB RAM.
  • The latest Windows or Macintosh Internet browser software and Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint programs.
  • The latest Flash and QuickTime plug-ins, as well as Real Audio player and Acrobat reader. All are typically preloaded on today’s computers (or easily downloaded for free from the Web).
  • Sound-capable computers with a screen resolution of 1024x768 or higher.
  • Headsets (headsets with microphones required for German 101 and German 102 courses).

If your school doesn’t have a computer lab or if your PCs are dated, UNCG iSchool may be the leverage you need to pursue an upgrade, whether funded by your district, a foundation or corporate gift, or through a local fundraiser.
