school administrators overview

iSchool is a dual enrollment program that allows high school juniors and seniors to earn actual college credit while still in high school. iSchool courses are UNCG general education courses. Students earn honors credit (5 quality points) for high school and earn 3 college semester credit hours for each course, if a grade of C or higher is earned. Independent study is not allowed.

All iSchool courses are offered in an online format so it's a requirement that high schools wanting to offer iSchool do so in a computer lab on the high school campus. Students must take iSchool courses in a specific class period during the school day and must be monitored by a high school employee, a facilitator chosen by the high school. Facilitators play a very critical role in the success of iSchool courses. Facilitators' responsibilities include:

  • Making sure students stay on task and track following the course's syllabus and calendar.
  • Troubleshooting technical issues with our iSchool help desk.
  • Proctoring exams/quizzes, etc.

Each high school also chooses a designee, the main point of contact and a registration information recipient (RIR). The RIR is the person to whom student information is submitted, like class rosters and final grade sheets. The designee and RIR can also be anyone the high school chooses.

How to Get Involved

UNCG iSchool partners with high schools by invitation, initiated by the high school. In order to invite us to work with your school, please fill out the iSchool facilitator and designee forms located in the resources footer below. Please note on these forms if you are a private high school.

iSchool courses are highly engaging and dynamic, utilizing audio and video files as learning objects that cater to various learning styles. Please review the equipment requirements to make sure your school is properly equipped.

iSchool courses for spring 2010 reached their cap. Students who have not yet registered are unlikely to obtain a seat.

iSchool is no longer accepting Student Information Forms (SIFs) for spring 2010 registration.

The 2010-2011 application process will open in March 2010.
