Dean's Message

I would like to express my sincere appreciation and gratitude for your willingness to facilitate learning for students at your school. I can think of no better way of contributing to students’ intellectual growth than by providing them with exciting learning experiences and an opportunity to earn college credit while still in high school.

UNCG iSchool is an award-winning program that has successfully provided college courses to high school students for over a decade. The online courses that are part of this program are intellectually challenging, graphically appealing, and highly interactive. They employ online tutorials, case studies, video lectures, interactive maps and timelines, drill-and-practice exercises, educational games, blogs, and discussion boards.

Two positions are key to student success in the UNCG iSchool program. The first, of course, is the instructor—the person who provides the content and guides students through learning the content. The second person is you—the facilitator. The reason is that you are the one who has daily face-to-face contact with the students, who ensures that students are aware of dates of assignments and exams, who keeps the students on task, who helps them with study skills, and who keeps the instructor informed when students have health issues or other problems. These tasks are absolutely critical to student success.

Again, thank you for your service. I wish you a year filled with excellent students.

Robert M. Brown, Ph.D.
Dean UNCG Division of Continual Learning
