  • State-of-the-art technology courses such as digital photography and animation.
  • Activities accessible to both right and left brain learners, incorporate teaching methods to stimulate multiple intelligences.

Arts Mix (AMX) »

What’s that? You can’t decide which art class to take? With Arts Mix, you’ll get a different art class each day—drawing, painting, mixed media collage, and pottery.

Sample activities: Pinch, coil, and slab pottery, watercolor painting, drawing, and collage

Cartooning (CAR) »

Hey, kids! What time is it? It’s time to pick up those pencils and give cartooning a shot. What’s that you say? You can’t draw a straight line? Not even necessary! Some of the world’s best cartoonists can’t draw one either, but has that stopped them? No way! After a few lessons you’ll amaze even yourself! (Actual amazement may vary… our lawyers told us we had to say that.)

Sample activities: Basics of drawing original characters, facial expressions, and fun captions

Creepy Crawlies! (BUG) »

Spiders, crickets, butterflies, and ladybugs. Eeek! You just can’t resist picking them up. You also love freaking out your mom and dad when you bring them into the house. And after this class, when you shake them in front of your sister’s face, you can also spout off tons of scientific facts about each one. Creepy AND crawly fun!

Sample activities: Bug catching and observing, bug-inspired artwork, construction of bug catchers

Digital Photography (DPH) »

You love to take pictures with your parents’ digital camera. You have hundreds of pictures of your cat, dog, and your big brother or sister. Learn some basic tips on how to take great pictures, create a few fun photograph projects, and use a photography program to create strange and fantastic special effects. Limited enrollment. $15 class fee.

Sample activities: How to take good pictures, artistic photo projects, using photo editing software

Egyptology (EGP) New! »

Come with us on a journey you’ll never forget as we travel back to the year 3150 BC! We’ll learn about Ancient Egypt through a series of art and science activities. Our camp director, Kisha, has even volunteered to be our life-size mummy! Shhh… don’t tell her that we’re going to remove her brains through her nose with a long hook and store her organs in canopic jars! If that doesn’t work out, we suppose we’ll make our own miniature mummies.

Sample activities: Write your name in hieroglyphics, create a fruit mummy, make a miniature mummy and sarcophagus

Food Chemistry (FCH) »

We bet you didn’t know that your Mom or Dad turns into a chemist every time she or he fixes dinner (microwaving a Stouffer’s doesn’t really count). Your kitchen is a laboratory full of strange chemicals like sodium chloride, acetic acid, and sucrose. When certain chemicals are combined they can become explosively delicious (or a real disaster—depending on your Mom or Dad). Let’s mix something up.

Sample activities: Make your own pickles, soft pretzels, butter, chocolate fudge, and more

Forensics (FOR) »

Even the smartest crook leaves behind clues to his or her identity, and forensic experts know how to find them. Just because you’re only in elementary school doesn’t mean that you can’t learn some of the techniques of seasoned investigators. Fingerprints, blood, hair and fiber analysis are all parts of any forensic kit. Let’s solve a camp mystery.

Sample activities: Fingerprinting, facial recognition software, footprint recovery, observation skill games

LEGO Robotics (LEG) New! »

If LEGOs are cool and robots are cool, then LEGO robots are, like, ten times as cool, right? OK, maybe our math isn’t so great, but if you’re a fan of either LEGOs or robots, you’re going to really like this course when all the pieces come together and your creation takes its first bold step. This course is not full day like the 6+ course. $10 class fee.

Sample activities: Experiment with LEGO Robotics kits

Mind Wizardry (MAT) »

Hey, Mom and Dad, don’t tell this to the kids, but this is really a math class. But it’s not one of those BORING math classes. Actually, come to think of it, if you didn’t KNOW it was a math class, you probably wouldn’t figure it out. There are a lot of cool activities like origami and card tricks which just happen to be explainable with math.

Sample activities: Card and dice probability games, origami, and nature artwork

Movie Madness! (MOV) New! »

Lights! Camera! Action! You’re the director of your own camp movie! Will it be a horror film with a slimy three-headed monster that devours the camp director? Or a Western where the Sheriff finally nabs the notorious bank robber? The choice is up to you (and the rest of your classmates) in this exciting film making course especially for younger campers!

Sample activities: Make your own commercials and short films

Yuck Science (YCK) New! »

Finally—a class where you can learn about all the things you’re told not to talk about in public! Puke! Boogers! Poop! But now, you’ll be armed with science facts about each one! Learn the science behind all the so-called sticky and smelly things that happen in our bodies! Gross!

Sample activities: Making slime “boogers,” barf, and blisters, investigate stomach acids and germs

Zoom! Swoosh! Blast! (ZOM) New! »

Look there, in the sky! It’s a bird! A plane! No, wait! It’s YOU! If you’ve ever wished that you could fly, then this is the class for you! Learn the science behind flight as you soar into the great blue yonder with your very own models of flying planes, parachutes, rockets, and kites! Up, up and away!

Sample activities: Create your own working models of paper airplanes, rockets, kites, and parachutes
