Function

As a UNCG student you have a personal account on the UNCG Novell Netware network. You will use this account to access the lab computers and the software on the network, print documents on network printers, and save documents and other files in your own secure directory on the network server.

Usage

More importantly for online students, you will use this log-in for Blackboard, UNCG's standard online course management system. Online courses at UNCG use Blackboard a great deal.

Remember, there is a limit to the number of times you can log-in with your initial password; that limit is 20 times. It is recommended you immediately change your password (from USERXXXX) when first setting up your account.

The Novell password expires every 90 days. If you use the computers in the labs on campus, the Novell log-in screen will prompt you when it is time to change your password. Please change it when prompted. If you do not log into the campus computers and want to log into Blackboard, it is vital that you remember to change your password every 90 days (you will receive an email reminder). If you experience log-in problems with Blackboard, it is likely that you need to change your Novell password.

You will receive an email reminding you to change your Novell Netware / Blackboard password several days before your Novell password expires. It is highly recommended that you follow the instruction in that email to reset your password immediately.
