Elluminate

ELLUMINATE SET-UP INSTRUCTIONS

  1. You will need a microphone and speakers (the internal ones that come already bundled with most computers are acceptable; however, a microphone/headset combo may provide a better experience). If you don't have a microphone for the first session, you can TYPE questions using the software (from step #2). However, you will want to get one soon.

  2. After hooking up your microphone and speakers, you must download a piece of free software (that installs right inside your browser). Go to http://www.elluminate.com and click on "Support" in the left navigation. A new page will open with a link to click to download the appropriate software. For Windows users, it is probably best to download the file directly to your desktop and then double-click the installer after it has completely downloaded.

    NOTE: If you are using dial-up, it might take a while for this entire process to complete. Please be patient. Although the software does work with dial-up connections, it is preferrable that you use a fast connection.

  3. After installing the software, you must visit

    to check your settings (i.e., you will check your speaker settings so you can hear the moderator and your peers, and you will check your microphone settings to make sure everyone else will be able to hear you).

    NOTE: Again, if you are using dial-up, it might take a while for the software to start the first time. Please be patient. The next time you actually use the software (in a real session), it will only take a couple of minutes to start.

  4. You should view the tutorial regarding the operation of software in a session. Once you have installed the software, you can visit a virtual tutorial at:

  5. If your course requires Elluminate, the direct link to the Elluminate session will be posted in Blackboard.
