Master of Arts degree and Post Baccalaureate Certificate in Conflict Resolution

  • Turning Conflict into Consensus, Cooperation, and Collaboration

UNCG is proud to be the first university in North Carolina to offer a Master of Arts degree and post-baccalaureate certificate in the growing field of Conflict Resolution. All courses for the degree and certificate are offered online. There is also a face-to-face in-class option.

Conflict Resolution is a unique and dynamic field of study offering professional training for adults eager to expand their career opportunities. Conflict Resolution skills add a valuable and timely interpersonal dimension in the areas of mediation, community development, human resources management, social work, and business consulting, to name just a few. The UNCG Conflict Resolution curriculum is a rich and challenging interdisciplinary program that draws from law, psychology, human resources, anthropology and sociology disciplines. Skills and strategies learned over the course of study become life-long tools for promoting peace, collaboration, and dialogue in all areas of life.

Our goal is to mold thoughtful and insightful conflict practitioners - professionals with a critical understanding of theory and method, and a deep appreciation of diversity, human rights, and personal responsibility.

Post Master's Certificate in Advanced School Counseling

The online Post-Master's Certificate (PMC) in Advanced School Counseling is a certificate intended for counselors who have at least two years of counseling experience in a school setting, who are fully licensed (M level) as a school counselor in North Carolina, and who have a Master's degree in counseling (48 hours minimum). The UNCG Department of Counseling and Educational Development is working on mechanisms by which fully licensed school counselors with a less than 48-hour Master's degree can become eligible to apply to the program. Please call (336) 334-3432 for more information if this is applicable to you.

Technology orientation for online learning is offered to new students at the start of each term. The department typically offers two courses per semester.

This online certificate teaches new skills and fosters professional networking among the school counselors across the state. Completion of the certificate has the potential for salary increases as specified by NCDPI policies.
