University Studies

Courses offered in the UNS program are designed to help students successfully transition to the UNCG setting emphasizing self development, academic success skills, and campus orientation. UNS 101 is offered to freshmen and UNS 102 is offered to first semester transfer students and adult students. Both courses are taught by UNCG staff with Master’s degrees. A Peer Academic Leader (PAL) is assigned to each class to help promote community and campus involvement and facilitate events and activities. PALs are primarily juniors and seniors who serve as role models for new students and mentor them for success.

Both of these courses cover topics such as:
  • Adjustment and Expectations

  • Test-taking Skills
  • Alcohol and Other Drugs
