SAS 100 (Strategies For Academic Success)

SAS 100 is a non-credit course required for all students on academic probation at the end of their first semester. This is an eight-week course with monitored attendance, graded pass/fail, and taken in the student's second semester at UNCG. SAS 100 begins during the second week of the semester and continues through the last day to drop courses without academic penalty. The class is divided after the first week, with a maximum of 10 students in each class meeting. SAS 100 instructors include university support staff and graduate students.

Topics covered in the course include self-assessment, study skills, learning styles, time management, and campus resources. Students are required to complete two face-to-face instructor conferences during the course. These meetings reflect a strengths-based approach that helps identify the student's academic strengths and interests. The second face-to-face discussion emphasizes the student's plans for academic recovery.
