Undergraduate Admissions

Prospective Students

Freshman Students

Freshmen are students who plan to enter UNCG directly from high school.

Transfer and Adult Students

A transfer student has greater than 30 college credit hours that will successfully transfer from a regionally accredited institution.

A freshman transfer student has fewer than 30 college credit hours that will successfully transfer from a regionally accredited institution.  A freshman transfer must meet requirements under both transfer and freshman admissions programs and must submit an official SAT or ACT score.

Adult students are those who have been away from formal schooling for at least twelve consecutive months, and have completed high school or earned a GED.

2Plus Students

If you have earned an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in certain areas, or an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN), you may be eligible for admission through UNCG's 2Plus program.

Second Degree Students

If you have earned a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college or university, we welcome your interest in pursuing a second degree at UNCG. You would be considered a second degree-seeking student.

Former Students

Former students are students who have previously attended UNCG (without completing a degree) during a regular academic term, summer session not included.

International Students

For the purpose of admission, UNCG defines an "international student" applicant as a foreign national who holds, or who intends to hold, a temporary, non-immigrant visa/status in the U.S.A. International students apply through the International Programs Center. For additional information please contact the Director of International Admissions at 336.334.5404.

Visiting & Summer School Students

A student who is currently working toward a degree at another institution but who wishes to take courses at UNCG during the regular term is classified as a "visiting" student.

Students planning to attend Summer Session at UNCG must complete the Summer Student Information Form. Summer Session courses and the information form may be obtained in mid-March by accessing the Summer Session Web page or by contacting the Summer Session office, 336.315.7044 (outside Greensboro, 1.866.334.CALL).
