Housing Information

Additional information on this page includes:

Apply to Live on Campus

The Department of Housing & Residence Life welcomes you to UNCG. As a student, you will soon discover that the learning process occurs both in and outside the classroom. Living on campus offers an exciting and unique opportunity to meet people from different backgrounds. It is a learning experience unlike any other you will encounter.

Signing up for housing is easier than ever. Everything you need for housing reservations is online. To sign up for housing, you will need your University ID Number and your UNCG Computer Account Username. (You received your username when you activated your computer accounts. It is the first part of your UNCG e-mail address.)

To sign up for housing:

  • Housing applications for incoming students can be completed beginning February 17, 2010.
  • Visit hrl.uncg.edu and click Applications and Forms.
  • Please carefully read the information concerning program and building choices, and the application process. Pay special attention to the Housing & Dining Services Contract.
  • Return to the Applications and Forms page, complete the appropriate housing application and submit it electronically.

How to check on the status of your housing application/room assignment:

  • Go to the UNCGenie Web site (https://banweb.uncg.edu) and click Enter Secure Area.
  • Enter your University ID Number and your Personal Identification Number (PIN)* and click the Login button.
  • Click Personal Information and then View Housing Assignment.

Your Personal Identification Number (PIN) is listed at the bottom left corner of your admission letter, and is required, along with your ID number, to register, access your student record, and update your personal information. You should access the UNC Genie Web site and change your PIN to an easy-to-remember six-digit number to ensure security of your information. To change your PIN, visit the UNCGenie Web site (https://banweb.uncg.edu) and click Enter Secure Area to proceed. If you have any problems with your PIN, once you have activated your UNCG computer account, click the "Forgot PIN?" button or contact 6-TECH Technical Support by phone at (336) 256-TECH (8324).

Your Hall/Room Assignment

New residents will be assigned based on date of receipt of the completed online application and receipt of the pre-payment (see Housing & Dining Contract). The $200 pre-payment must be received in our office no later than 5 days after the online application is submitted. If the pre-payment is not submitted within 5 days, the application will be cancelled and a new application must be submitted online. Students applying for housing for the spring 2010 semester must apply and make the pre-payment by December 1, 2009. Housing and Residence Life is not able to guarantee housing for the spring semester.

It is very important that you complete the following additional steps:

You will not be assigned to a room until you have also completed the following additional steps:

All new students who attend the Spartan Orientation, Advising, and Registration Program (SOAR) will stay in a residence hall and have the opportunity ask our staff questions about life in the halls. SOAR information will be available at the Orientation & Family Programs Web site http://soar.uncg.edu.
