Student Health Services
Student Health Services provides cost-effective primary and preventive health care in a convenient on-campus setting. Board-certified physicians, nurse practitioners, physicians' assistants, and registered nurses staff the medical clinic. Counseling, offered by licensed psychologists, counselors, and social workers, is available through the Counseling and Testing Center. Psychiatric services are also available and provided by board-certified psychiatrists.
Insurance
UNCG students in degree programs taking six or more main campus credit hours must demonstrate proof of health insurance. Students who do not provide this proof will be enrolled in a campus-endorsed student health insurance policy and billed $390.00 per semester. Student Medical/Immunization Form
In order to protect the general health of the University community, the General Assembly of North Carolina passed a law which mandates that students present a documented record of immunization. If you fail to present this record of immunization, your registration will be cancelled. It is therefore critical for you to meet this requirement in a timely fashion. Sign up for SOAR (Spartan Orientation, Advising, and Registration)
When you confirm your plans to attend UNCG by May 1 for fall admission inside SpartanLink, you will be emailed information concerning the Spartan Orientation, Advising, and Registration (SOAR) program with details on how to make your reservation. Spaces fill quickly; do not delay in making your reservation. This required
program enables you to familiarize yourself with the campus and to learn about UNCG's
expectations for new students, the resources we have to offer, and to meet an advisor and register for classes. It is very reassuring to have your
course schedule in your hand and some familiar faces in mind when you're heading off to college.
The SOAR program is the best way to prepare yourself and your family for college life. We also offer
a SOAR program especially for parents and family members.
If you are admitted for the spring term, you will participate in SOAR just prior to the beginning of classes. Information about this program will be emailed in late fall.
Freshmen
All freshmen are required to participate in the two-day SOAR program in June, designed to introduce first time college students to University resources, policies, faculty, staff, and the campus grounds. You will also meet with an advisor and register for fall classes. All freshmen are required to stay overnight on campus during SOAR.
Transfers and Adult Students
Transfer and adult students are required to attend a one-day SOAR session in June or August, designed to acclimate students coming to UNCG from other institutions and first time adult college students to the unique culture and processes of UNCG.
Advising and Registration for Transfer and Adult Students
Transfer and adult students are encouraged to complete their advising and registration components prior to SOAR, taking advantage of the Advising & Registration by Appointment (ARA) program. Information about scheduling appointments for advising and registration is shared via e-mail so be sure to activate your UNCG computer accounts and check your UNCG e-mail on a regular basis. Transfer and adult students who are unable to take advantage of the ARA program will have the opportunity to be advised and register for courses during SOAR.

Student Laptops
The University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) is committed to providing students with the tools necessary to learn and develop technology skills for the 21st century. In keeping with this commitment, UNCG has reached agreements with IBM/Lenovo and Apple that will provide students with the opportunity to purchase fully-featured wireless laptop computers at discounted prices. Activate your Computer Accounts
You can activate your computer accounts on the Web as soon as you receive your admission letter. It is critical that you activate your computer accounts because many UNCG offices communicate
with students by electronic means. To activate your computer accounts on the Web, you will need your University ID Number*, your first
and last name as they appear on your admissions application, and your date of birth.
* Your University ID Number was mailed to you by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. If you
have misplaced this number, please call Undergraduate Admissions at 336.334.5243.
To activate your computer accounts:
- Visit its.uncg.edu/Accounts and click New Account Requests.
- Click Activate Your Default Accounts.
- Fill out the form and click Request Accounts.
Please note: When you activate your computer accounts, you will be given your UNCG Computer Account Username and other important information. Please print this for future reference.
Why should I activate my computer accounts?
Your UNCG Computer Account Username (default Novell account) will allow you to sign up for housing and log in to computers on campus. It will also give you access to your UNCG e-mail account, which you should check regularly. Many offices will use this e-mail account to communicate with you prior to the beginning of classes!

Billing
Students are billed electronically on a term basis for tuition, fees, room, and board (if applicable). Billing schedules and payment deadlines will be available at SOAR and online at www.uncg.edu/reg/Reg/current/PaymentsBills.html. Payment Plan
A monthly payment plan called TuitionPay is available. The TuitionPay plan may be used to supplement all forms of financial aid or can be used alone as a monthly payment plan. This plan provides for payment of annual (fall and spring terms) college expenses to be made in up to ten equal monthly payments or per term of 5 equal monthly payments. A $55 annual (or $35 semi-annual) enrollment fee includes Tuition Payment Insurance. For information concerning enrollment deadlines or an application for the TuitionPay Payment Plan, call the Cashier's and Student Accounts Office toll-free at 1.877.286.8250, or TuitionPay at 1.800.635.0120 (online at www.tuitionpay.com).
Financial Aid
If you need financial assistance with meeting the cost of attending UNCG, you should apply for financial aid by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA can be filed online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. UNCG's priority deadline is March 1, and the FAFSA can be filed as early as January 1 each year.

You can access your financial aid records through UNCGenie. You can view your awards, Satisfactory Academic Progress status, and document requirements. You can also update your e-mail and mailing addresses here.

Register with the Office of Disability Services
Students admitted to the University with documented disabilities are strongly encouraged to inquire about registration with the UNCG Office of Disability Services (ODS). In keeping with Section 504 of The Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and The Americans with Disabilities Act, the Office of Disability Services provides a full range of academic accommodations to qualified students with disabilities.
