Professors. Mentors. Friends.

Many of UNCG's 1,000 faculty members have gained national and international recognition for scholarship, publication, and teaching. They engage in significant research - often assisted by undergraduates - which keeps them on the cutting edge of knowledge in the discipline.

Dr. Vidya Gargeya, a professor of information systems and operations management in the Bryan School of Business and Economics, was named the winner of a 2007-08 UNC Board of Governors Award for Excellence in Teaching.Even though UNCG is a research university, senior faculty members teach courses at all levels, so that our undergraduates study with the same professors who are teaching our Ph.D. students. Faculty members are accessible to students outside class as advisors, mentors and on an informal basis. It's the right balance between teaching and research, and a 16:1 student/faculty ratio ensures that undergraduates get the individual attention that they need to be successful academically.
