Minerva Statue
The image of Minerva, the goddess of wisdom, has appeared on every diploma awarded by UNCG since 1893. In 2003, the Class of 1953 commissioned artist James Barnhill to create a statue of Minerva to be located in the east courtyard of the renovated Elliott University Center. She sits atop a limestone pedestal to welcome students, faculty, staff, alumni, and visitors to EUC.
