One great benefit of attending UNCG is its location. Greensboro offers all the amenities of a large city yet it has a small town feel. Time and again it has been nationally recognized as one of the best places to live in the US. Students find in a Greensboro a dynamic mixture of education, social gatherings, and cultural and sporting events. In addition to UNCG, the triad is home to ten other colleges and universities. Discover the museums, Broadway and local theatre, movies, galleries, coffee bars, opera, ballet, and the symphony. Two triad coliseums host sporting events and well known performers. Greensboro Coliseum, seating almost 24,000, hosted the ACC men's and women's basketball tournament in 2006. Area minor league baseball, professional hockey and soccer draw crowds with their exciting colorful play.
Located at the crossroads of I-85 and I-40, Greensboro is easy to reach by interstate highway, Amtrak service, or the regional airport. Students find a moderate climate with mild winters and spectacular springs and falls. Driving a couple hours, students enjoy ski slopes, hiking trails, scenic views and white water of the Blue Ridge Mountains or the Sun, sand, and salt water of the Atlantic Ocean. Washington D.C., and Atlanta Georgia are six hours away by car.
