What's Unique about Curriculum and Instruction at UNCG

  • Pre-Service Education Programs are delivered through cohort-based programs and professional development schools. Students progress through their professional studies in Inquiry Teams of about 25 students under the guidance of a faculty member or doctoral student, who serves as their field supervisor, academic advisor, and weekly seminar leader.
  • By graduation, students will have spent about 1,000 hours in schools in clinical settings.
  • UNCG has the finest teacher education program in the southeastern United States.

A Brief Message from the Department Head

Special Help to Students

Careers

  • 100% of our graduates who go into teaching careers are employed within a few months.
  • Schools prefer our graduates for positions in their classrooms.
  • Our students often assume leadership positions in their schools and the state.

Student Success Stories

Students in our Elementary Education program regularly win awards such as Outstanding First Year Teacher, Teacher of the Year, and Outstanding Student Teacher in Science. Principals of school districts who employ our students say they are the best prepared teachers they have.
